Dragon Taxis is the oldest Taxi company in Cardiff as it was originally opened as West Cars in 1967 on Splott Road in Cardiff. In January 1995 West Cars was taken over and re-branded Dragon Taxis. Dragon Taxis enjoyed spectacular growth through the late nineties and absorbed Metro Cars who also had a 28 year history in March 1999, with this acquisition being followed by taking control of Elite Cars in September 2002. Dragon Taxis latest acquisition in August 2011 was Tiger Taxis formally known as Delta Cars.

Dragon Taxis started in a small office at 182 City Rd, Cardiff on 31st January 1995, Dragon moved to a 1900 square foot office and garage at Oxford Street, Cardiff in October 1996, The next move was to a 3000 square foot office at Vere St, Cardiff in March 1999, Dragon outgrew that office and moved again, in July 2006, to their current location which is a 6500 square foot office and garage facility on a one acre site at Unit 5 Martin Road, Tremorfa Industrial Estate, Rover Way, Cardiff, 2 miles from the city centre.
